Service learning plays an integral part of Cheongna Dalton School(CDS). Serving the community allows students to gain awareness of and contribute to the world around them, and become more caring and active leaders in the society. Through their service, it is our hope that students come to understand the value of empathy, compassion, and caring as the basis for civic responsibility.
Service learning starts in the First Program and the Middle School with the expectation that students will take on more individual responsibility as they progress. Each student is assigned a faculty member who provides guidance in finding appropriate service placements and ongoing support as the student gains insight from their service.
In the High School, Services Learning is required for graduation. Students are required to complete four project credits during their high school career. A project is a sustained, meaningful commitment to one agency or a cause that is focused on providing a valuable service to those in need. Student service opportunities include work both within and outside CDS with the expectation that at least two units represent service to the city of Seoul or Incheon.
